Integrative and Therapeutic Massage Modalities
Integrative Massage- This massage modality is appropriate for the greatest number of people. Focusing on the individual, the therapist uses client feedback, experience and intuition to tailor all aspects of the massage to create a holistic and nurturing experience for the client. Pressure varies from gentle to deep based on the clients preferences and goals, and a variety of massage modalities may be incorporated.
Therapeutic Massage - For bodies experiencing transition, be it between life stages or from illness toward health, therapeutic massage can help guide the body through that transition. This massage modality is especially designed for treating minor soft tissue injuries or after a recent surgery/hospital stay.
Swedish Relaxation Massage - A massage technique that uses light to moderate pressure to relax and rejuvenate the whole body. This technique is not designed to "work out knots," but rather focuses on the systemic effects of therapeutic touch, including improved circulation, reduced stress and decreased inflammation of tissues
Maternity Massage (Prenatal or Postnatal) - According to the American Pregnancy Association (APA), "Massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains and improve labor outcomes and newborn health." (APA, 2013) Massage can either be preformed side lying, or using specially designed massage bolsters to allow the expectant mother to comfortably lay face down.
Oncology and Palliative/Hospice Care Massage- Caring, supportive touch is offered to those experiencing cancer treatment and end of life transitions. Massage can improve the quality of life for hospice and oncology care clients. Massage can provide comfort, relaxation and help relieve pain, anxiety and fatigue, while improving sleep and mood. (AMTA, 2009) This type of massage is usually preformed in the clients home to keep them as comfortable as possible.
Regardless of the service, rates are $75 for 60 minutes or $105 for 90 minutes.
